“Peeling President”

Kim Tansey

He glared with small beady eyes at his reflection

A suit of flesh and lies, his only protection

A disguise to blend in, only part of the attack

An indescribable color underneath a small crack.

Putrid orange skin peeling back, revealing

Small, thick fingers tugging, pine colored spikes protruding

Lidded eyes becoming reptile, slitted and vile

Black tipped scales, sharp teeth in his smile.

No one knew. A masked reptile ready to bite.

The plan was set in place, no one put up a fight.

Years would pass before the takeover.

As Trump lounges on his throne, the day grows closer

One day at a time to pretend he has thumbs.

One day at a time before the mothership comes.
