beat back.
they say there’s only every tinsel in neverland.
green kitchen in the city,
it glows year-round within me.
candlestick of a person,
every time i trickle down into something else i can’t help but compare the difference.
my silk self unwinds inside an avalon diner.
baroque ribbon tied in a knot.
skate shoeless in a texas winter,
i’m the snow queen after all.
the river is full of ornaments,
the kind you make with puff paint during an afterglow and hope they’ll last forever.
maybe they do on this side of the traffic.
maybe they do everywhere.
