"Reflection on an Argument"
We toy with tension like a composer or novelist
To create a great work.
We crave the release that only follows
The grinding of teeth and silent curses.
For there is no release without prior grip:
Without taut, fatigued tendons clustering finger bones.
A seemingly everlasting feud never lasts,
And always brings forth a treasure
Like an oyster releasing, offering a pearl
On its soft tan tongue
And nacre innards.
